Small Social Media Marketing Tips for Small Businesses

Small Social Media Marketing Tips for Small Businesses

Every brand knows that the right digital media strategy and branding is crucial to making a major difference in success within your digital campaigns. However, when you’re a smaller-sized business, you don’t have the luxury of spending large amounts of money on your marketing campaigns. Not to worry, at Konnect Agency, we work with businesses of all sizes and have a lot of experience working with up-and-coming brands. Through our experience, we came up with a couple of recommended hacks to follow on social media for small businesses that will help you get the most out of your social pages such as Instagram and Facebook!

Consistency is Key
The more consistent you are in your social media posting, the more trustworthy and reliable your brand comes off as to others. We recommend making sure you are on top of posting at least a couple times a week, creating some type of content calendar where you plan ahead the days you will be posting. When real-time opportunities or events arise, you can adjust your calendar accordingly but it is always best to prepare at least a week in advance with an image and caption ready to post. It’s also important to be aware of current events and make sure that you are sensitive to your audience. For example, if there is some type of natural disaster you should avoid posting your scheduled “Happy Friday” post.

Choosing the Right Platform
You don’t have to feel like you need to be active on every single social media platform out there. The world of social media and branding is so saturated in today’s day and age that rather than trying to be everywhere, it’s better to focus on the platform you will be most successful in and honing your unique story to catch people’s attention. For example, if your target audience is baby boomers, you shouldn’t be focusing too much on YouTube or Snapchat, where the audience skews very young. Being active on Facebook alone will be a successful strategy because that is the best way to reach the people who would be potentially interested in your brand and products.

Outline what your brand looks, sounds, and feels like
What does your brand look like? What is your brand’s style? Your brand’s voice? Before starting a social media strategy, it is crucial to take some time to answer these questions and run through all your content to ensure that each and every post is aligned with your brand’s key messaging. Your social media opens the opportunity for your brand to showcase the lifestyle and education of your product and share the story of how your brand will impact people’s lives. In order to stand out, you must have a unique story to share. Not only is this crucial for your social media strategy but as a public relations agency, it’s very important to immerse yourself in the brand before you start pitching. One way we tackle this at Konnect is by setting aside time with our clients to talk about key messages.

I hope these easy tips have been helpful in guiding you as you and your brand as you take your first steps into building your social media marketing strategy!
